about

The photographer

Growing up on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, Phil was surrounded by picturesque scenery; amazing surfing spots and he enjoyed a beer or two with friends.

In 2002, the communications industry took him to Western Australia where he now calls home. This is where he found his real passion, photography looking through the lens of a camera, focusing on the things that most people don’t appreciate and turning them into something special.

To add to this, 2 beautiful children later and a gorgeous wife that supports him, a tale of humble beginnings began to emerge as Phil took a leap into the photographic arena and has never looked back. Today, Phil runs a successful portrait studio along with services to Commercial & Corporate Enterprises, which enables him to spend a lot more time with his family.

Landscape and Fine Art Photography is what motivates and enhances his ever-growing talent to endure a picture perfect result every time.

The choice of camera

Every photographer is different when it comes to cameras, flashes, tripods etc. When we talk about the type of camera a professional prefers there are usually two brands that come too mind. CANON & NIKON. A little like the Holden and Ford rivalry.

Equipment used

There are so many elements in a photographer’s outfit but there is some equipment I will carry with me everywhere. This all depends on what I am doing or where I am going.

I have two main bags that I use with a variety of equipment too suit the commissioned assignment.

-           A small bag for arduous assignments
-           A large bag for the more demanding and meticulous requirements.

When I am shooting portrait on location, I will carry a suitable amount equipment to allow for any unexpected changes or requests. I always carry 2 x cameras, 2 x Lenses, a blower, lens cleaning kit, spare batteries and a tripod to give you an idea. This is no means anywhere near all the equipment for this particular photo shoot.

I hope you enjoy the website, please feel free to send an email if you have any suggestions or questions relating to either a photo shoot or photography in general. Phil is the friendly photographer next door.
